In this Budapest Travel guide, we check what a Marketplace Experience is like, and what Good food we can get around Kálvin tér.
Let’s look at the Best of Budapest! Kálvin tér may be just an ordinary Subway station, but there are so many nice shops and restaurants around it! The prime site to visit is obviously the Grand Marketplace. It gives off a nice vibe, and it’s an excellent place to experience a bit of the Hungarian culture and flavors. There’s also a basement part where you can get some ideas for souvenirs, as this is the place that showcases Hungaricum’s, things that are typically Hungarian.

But the area has been siginificantly renovated over the past few years and a ton of new shops and eateries have popped up: In this video we are also showing you a pretty good brunch place called Cafe Brunch Budapest. If you are hungry for an Avocado Salmon sandwich or some bacon and eggs, then it’s a worthy place to check out.

We also visited one of the Frei Cafe’s, a Hungarian Coffee franchise that it all over the country. They have an interesting selection of coffee and tee plus their interiors look very colorful and fun.
We call out one of our favorite Italian restaurants nearby: Trattoria Toscana. It has a very good and tasty selection of seafood and pasta, so don’t miss it if you are a fan of the italian cuisine. During summer you can also sit outside and have a beatiful view at the Gellért hill.
We also pass by Belvárosi Disznótoros, it’s an eatery that also functions as a butcher shop. They offer a wide variaty of local Hungarian dishes, so if you would like to try out some of those, it’s a very good option.
One of our favorite specialty coffee shops is also in the neighbourhood: Budapest Baristas. If you enjoy specialty coffee then I would gladly recommend them as they have a nice selection of beans and different types of coffee (my favorite is their V60 if I have time or their batchbrew). Here you can also enjoy very good brunch.

There is also a shop that’s called Best Stuff. It is a very cool place if you want to buy some merch related to Marvel, Harry Potter, Star Wars or Kawaii stuff, but they also have a wide selection of sweets and unique beverages.
At lunch time we went to Al Dente, an authentic Italian bistro that serves excellent Pasta dishes. The owner is a fun guy from Italy who actively works between the tables, so you can be assured that the flavors you get won’t dissapoint.

Nearby there is also another great bar that serves Mediterranean food: Tapas! The place called Padron is also a family owned business similarly like Al Dente.

And of course we had room for sweets, so we collected some excellent Cheesecake inspired desserts at Say Cheese. If you have lactose intolerance or gluten allergies, you can still find some delicious items here as they have lactose free and gluten free products!
Last but not least we picked up some Artisan chocolate at Rózsavölgyi Csokoládé. The chocolates not only taste delicious, but they also have very cool packaging and awesome looking chocolates!
